Specialised learning support services are available to Pacific students at the University. These services are designed to help you achieve success in your studies.
Te Fale Pouāwhina
Te Fale Pouāwhina provides a friendly and professional service based on kaupapa Māori and Pacific principles. Māori and Pacific Learning Advisers are passionate about Pacific student success.
Learning Advisers work with a range of Pacific services across the University. Face-to-face learning opportunities include workshops, study groups, wānanga/fono and advisory sessions.
Leadership Through Learning
The Leadership Through Learning programme is a free leadership and development programme for any Māori and Pacific student at the University of Auckland, across all levels of studies, faculties, and disciplines. The programme offers a culturally safe space, where we build a community of student leaders seeking to “Lead, Empower and Transform”.
Tuākana is a University-wide learning community that enhances the academic success of Pacific students.
Tuākana offers small-group learning, whakawhanaungatanga, wānanga, fonotaga, face-to-face meetings and workshops. These help connect Pacific students with senior Pacific students (tuākana), academic teaching staff, and key people across the University.
University support for Pacific students
The University has a variety of support services to help Pacific students. These range from study spaces, mentors and scholarships to advisers and counsellors dedicated to helping Pacific students.
